About Gabrielle Fairhead

Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Gabrielle Fairhead started dancing at the age of 5, and since then never wanting to take that ballet skirt off. She started her vocational training at the Jacqui Wells Dance studio and with the South African Ballet Theatre. In addition, she took up many other forms of dancing including flamenco, contemporary dance, jazz and her favourite tap with the Tap Talk Rhythm Company.

A move to Switzerland with the family at the age of 15 lead her to train in a pre-professional training programme with IgoKat, directed by ex-principal Bajert dancers Kathryne Bradney and Igor Pavano, as well as dancing for the Swiss Tap team with Fabrice Martin.

She furthered her vocational dance training at Elmhurst school for dance, in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet. During her graduate year she had the privilege to work with Birmingham Royal Ballet in their Swan Lake tour (2012) and with Northern Ballet for their tour of ‘The Ugly Duckling.’

After graduating, Gabrielle first started dancing with Just Live Dance, a start up neo-classical company based in Singapore. For the year of 2014 she danced with Cape Town City Ballet, and Vienna Festival Balletfor the year of 2015. Travelling and dancing with all these different companies provided her with the experience of many different roles and opportunities. Recently she has been exploring different companies and workshops, including with London Contemporary Ballet and the Forsythe summer course in Madrid 2016. In the midst of her professional dance career, Gabrielle completed with distinction a BA honours in Professional Practice in Dance.
